Mbuji South Coffee Limited was founded from a deep commitment to Tanzanian agriculture and a mission to uplift smallholder farmers and women traders.
Its founder, Elizabeth Francis Chishomi, traces her inspiration to Tukuyu in Mbeya, where her grandparents were among the region’s early coffee growers. Her professional journey began in 2016 at Mbinga Coffee, where she gained hands-on experience across the full coffee-processing cycle.
Driven to create meaningful impact in her community, Elizabeth started sourcing and selling parchment coffee before co-founding Mbuji South Coffee Limited—establishing a platform dedicated to farmer empowerment, ethical sourcing, and high-quality export.
The name and spirit of the company are inspired by Mbuji Rock, a sacred landmark in Ruvuma cherished by the Wamatengo people. It stands as a symbol of strength, heritage, and resilience—values that continue to shape the identity of the Mbuji South brand.
At Mbuji South Coffee, passion lies in the impact behind every bean. Each bag of coffee represents a story of women who rise early to care for their farms, smallholder families whose livelihoods depend on fair prices, and communities built on tradition and hard work.
We believe coffee should carry not just flavor, but dignity, heritage, and hope. Our blend is equal parts ethical trade and premium taste.
We work directly with smallholder farmers in Mbinga, Kilimanjaro, and Kagera to produce exceptional Arabica and Robusta coffees that reflect the richness of their origin. Our focus on traceability, ethical sourcing, and meticulous processing ensures that each cup delivers both quality and meaning.
